Web Accessibility Statement

Orange County Government is committed to ensuring accessibility of its websites to people with disabilities. Web accessibility refers to the inclusive practice of removing barriers that prevent interaction with or access to websites by people with disabilities. When websites are correctly developed and edited all users have equal access to information and functionality.

Working with an accessibility consultant Orange County Government will be implementing the relevant portions of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Levels A and AA (WCAG 2.0 Levels A and AA). Web content produced by Orange County Government will meet WCAG 2.0 Levels A and AA by 2022. During development we will test content using assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, etc., and utilize end users for testing who have disabilities and who depend on these technologies.

Orange County Government will require third party vendors providing content on its websites to adhere to the WCAG 2.0 Levels A and AA standards, and will require compliance with these standards when selecting third party vendors. Currently some third party content that appears on our site may be outside our ability to control. This includes user generated content. An example of user generated content would be an image or document uploaded to a web-based forum by a third party user.
